When brand meets HR

Casting your eye over your LinkedIn feed in 2017 can throw up some pretty surprising job titles – ‘Engagement Gurus’, ‘Programming Ninjas’ and even ‘Brand Sherpas’ all side by side talking business (yes, that last one is a real example by the way). There’s no doubt that traditional roles are changing and the way we refer to them needs to reflect this. But one department that you might not notice quietly adapting itself is that of HR.

More and more, we’re noticing that HR Managers are being placed at the forefront of the business and are taking on a much more strategic role. Gone are the days of having your HR Manager squirreled away in the back office doing admin, they’re now often the first point of contact for potential new employees. This responsibility of giving a great onboarding experience is becoming high priority, and means that HR Managers frequently link in with their organisation’s marketing department.

Given this development, there’s a few product streams that we find ourselves supporting HR Managers with. Branded clothing is one. Making sure employees have a functional yet good-looking uniform to put on every time they come to work is so important. After all, there are many things to consider in designing a uniform that employees will be proud to wear as brand ambassadors. This tends to be managed by HR Managers with strong links to their marketing department.

Putting together welcome packs for new employees is another massive trend for new starts these days, often meaning a crossover with internal comms related tasks. We love working together with managers in order to create something that sets the tone and gives a great (all-important) first impression for those new recruits that will get talked about in person and on social media.

There’s no doubt that the HR Managers of today are dealing with much more than just paperwork – and we’re proud to support them in putting their company’s best face forward. There’s a whole world of possibilities and opportunities to stand out from the crowd – from pens to coffee cups to bespoke pen drives and even branded earphones!
