Font of Wisdom
Font of Wisdom.
As printers of beautiful brochures for architects, designers and other creative industries, we’re fascinated by typeface and paper, so we were delighted to be invited to the opening of an exhibition on the font Bodoni Italian, sponsored by the legendary paper-makers Fedrigoni and devised by the SEA design agency.
The font was named after Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813), an artist and designer who is known as the ‘Prince of Typographers’. The exhibition included rarely-seen original pieces on loan from collections in Milan and Parma.
Lead account director Duane Paterson and Streamline’s graphic designer Sylvia Maksa went along to the private view, part of the Made in Italy exhibition, a celebration of Italian post-war design. It was held at Protein in Shorditch, an area of London home to a rich community of creative people.
Sylvia says: “It was great to be mingling with interesting designers and creatives who shared a similar passion for beautiful paper and the Bodoni font, which conveys uniformity, crispness, elegance and beauty.”
